The shoot
Albeeli is a conceptualized shoot based on Rajasthan and Indian gypsy culture.
The concept is developed for a story of a rajasthani wild gypsy girl who
travels with animals, sings and dances for her living. She is charming and grabs attention for her beauty.
The
locations and props are based on nature as we shot in a little jungle set and
with animals such as elephant’s, parrots and etc.I wanted to create the wild
and ethnic look and bring out the culture and traditional ways of clothing as
they are known for their fabrication and embellishments.
The model/
Artist I have selected for the shoot
Albeeli is actress Nadeesha
hemamali as she has a beautiful ethnic face structure with very open features
to work with and indeed very photogenic. I wanted a sharp face to carry off
this strong Indian image and also an adventurous spirit as we had to work quickly
with the animals and work according to their behavior and Nadeesha was exactly
the right choice for this concept.
The poses
were very open and wild..so she can express the mood and we went for a very
heavy makeup too it is fancy and dark as to emphasizing the features was
important. The hair and makeup artist was Gayani batz she did a fantastic job
with the eyes as they look so sharp and expressive and grabs so much attention
and we used the rajasthani face tattoos too with a lot of heavy jewellery done
by the brand Dandelion, all the styling accessories are done by dandelion.
Colour
theme for the entire shoot was black, silver, pink, blue and yellow so we
worked with colourful lights, makeup, styling, wardrobe to match the concept
and theme too… we experimented with the colours by using the traditional colour
palette and mixing the cool n the warm colours.
