Denims the trend setter

DENIMS THE TREND SETTER – yesterday- today – tomorrow!!
Dear fashion lovers,
This is your friendly stylist Raffealla writing to you again .There is nothing more comfortable like a pair of old jeans and nothing more classic like it.. I don’t know anyone who does not own a pair. So I thought ill write about something very classic, chic, classy and something we all love …Aha.. Not forgetting there is No gender barriers for this particular dress code. As we all know this is the hottest classic code among all the sexy ladies and the handsome men.
DENIM..?
Let me start with the HISTORY of DENIMS where did it come from?
We call them jeans, blue jeans originally the word ‘jeans’ comes from the French phrase ‘bleu de Genes’ meaning ‘the blue of Genoa’.  The denim fabric originated in the French town of Nimes and owes its name to the location (fabric from Nimes), which was quickly known as ‘denim’ abroad.
You certainly know that because of its characteristic sturdiness, denim was initially used in Europe as work clothing and then in the 1800’s in the USA as well, becoming later on in the 1900’s a fashionable item all over the world. Spunky Genoese Navy sailors first strutted around in denim back in the 1500’s but it wasn’t until the 1870’s in the gold rush boom that denim took off. This was when Levi Strauss – a name now synonymous with denim - created a strong style of workers pants with rivets that was quickly adopted by Californian coal miners.  Originally made from uncomfortable hemp, Strauss eventually discovered and started using the twilled cotton cloth that originated from the French town of Nimes and denim, as we know it, was born.
For a long time, it was largely worn by workers but become popular in American Pop Culture when jeans became symbolic of protest against conformity. Worn by teenagers and young adults they were often refused admission to movies, restaurants and other everyday haunts when wearing them.  But the trend grew and during the 1960’s wearing blue jeans become more acceptable and by the 1970’s they were truly established as a fashion trend. The 80’s brought with it “designer jeans” and denim took to the catwalks.

Today jeans are a staple of everybody’s wardrobe and often a key element in seasonal trends and fashion around the world. Each season brings with it new cuts, features, treatments and embellishments such as the sand washes, bleach washes, acid washes different treatments and very raw shades as well.
Do’s and Do not’s..?
·        The first rule of buying jeans is, if you're in-store, you must try them on! You can’t find the right jean for you without it. When you’re in the change room and do not wear them on top of your wearing jeans as you cannot see the exact fit (Oh come on don’t be lazy picking one of the sexiest wardrobe pieces).
·        Squat in them, walk around the room, sit down try whether it helps you to be in your comfortable zone because there is nothing more comfortable and stylish like a pair of jeans.
·        Spend at least a few minutes wearing them. This could be a relationship that will last for years and a few minutes up front will give the jean enough time to start to shape and mold to your body.
·        Try on the type of top you’ll be wearing with them to get the total look. This will help you decide if the jeans are exactly the style you are after.
·        Checks whether it fits your waist line perfectly do not have second thoughts of tightening it with a belt because it will ruin the perfect body shape you have.
·        When buying stretch jeans, buy the next size down. Jeans will stretch by half a size and once worn, your great fitting jeans will start to look loose. Take note of the amount of Elastane in the the denim. More elastane = stretchier denim. Buying them super snug will ensure they continue to be the perfect fit.
·        if you need to have your jeans taken up, ask the tailor to sew the original hem back onto the jeans. This will give the look that they haven’t been taken up at all.
·        If you know you’ll be wearing heels with your new jeans take them with you to try  them on.  The extra height will allow the jean to fall naturally. There’s nothing worse than having too much denim bunching up at your feet which distorts the whole leg profile.
·        No matter how much you fall in love with the fits ladies if it’s a drop crotch and the hems are not grate do not buy it denims enhance your curves this will not OR meet your tailor immediately and get it altered.
·        The main tip is to wash jeans less. Over-washing them can cause them to shrink and lose its strength and durability very quickly.
·        Hang your jeans in the bathroom when you have a shower.  The steam will help to drop out any unwanted creases and "freshen" them up.

Types of jeans
Skinny jeans, boy friend jeans, maternity jeans, straight cut jeans, slim fit jeans, dip dyed jeans, high waisted jeans, hipsters, boot leg, metallic finished jeans, embellished and patched, flared leg, slouch, mid rise skinny, ex-boy friend cropped, relaxed flare, tapered leg, stove pipe, gaucho, cuffed, mid rise, low rise and high rise denims and etc..
I always believe going out in jeans and being totally chic is a trend setter I don’t know for how many years now it will keep on updating every year and will never be out of fashion and just a must have in every style wardrobe whether its girlish, gothic, biker, glamorous or rock star.
The only outfit which you can wear for any function, any season no matter its boots, heels or rubber slippers, to nuwaraeliya or Anuradhapura. Just amazingly fit any of these. As we just say old pair of jeans are like an old friend.. I  believe its true cause everyone out there got their little secretive story definitely linking up with a pair of jeans. LOL.
As life is too short to wear boring clothes and “people will stare. Make it worth their while” like harry Winston said.
